This even was designed for American students from three different schools in the US, who were in Japan to study the Japanese language and culture. We played Kochi, Shingetsu, Takeda-no-Komoriuta...Sunayama, Mitsuuchi, Hanamichi, and Kizashi. At first we couldn't see the audience's reaction very well, and thought they might not know how to react to this strange music they had never heard. But later we found out that they really enjoyed the concert, and felt the power of music. The second part was a workshop, in which they played taiko for the very first time, and felt its charm and joy. Later we received unblievably warm and encouraging comments from them about our performance. We would like to thank everybody who helped us to get here. It was a great experience!
When we saw the building from outside, it looked rather small, which made us worried that the sound of taiko might be too loud for older people. On this day, we played Kochi, Mitsu-uchi, and Hanamichi. Unexpectedly, the audience got really excited and wanted to hear more. We were very happy to play one more--Kizashi. They said that it is amazing that everybody looked so happy listening to our music. We received a lot of positive feedback from the staff, too.
This is our first time to perform for Ishikawa-no-Taiko. We played Shingetsu, which we thought would be different from anyting that other groups would play. We didn't know if we would get a good response because we expected the audience to be people who love powerful taiko. But we were able to do our best in our performance, enjoyed the real nice hall, great technical support and the audience there. We also received a lot of positive comments about our music after the concert, too.
At the beginning of this party, we performed Kochi, and later we played Mitsu-uchi and Shingetsu. Most of the attendants were artists and scholars, which made us a little nervous. But we received a very positive response for all our performances. Thank you!
This concert was a big success thanks to many staff members and special help from the children. We performed Kochi, Shingetsu, Takedano-komoriuta...Sunayama, Mitsuuchi, Hanamichi and Kizashi in Part 1. In Part 2, we had a wonderful workshop. More than 50 children and adults came up to the stage and played taiko beautifully and had a great time. We really appreciate everybody's support and work to make this happen.
